Walkerton Tragedy

Many of you probably have already heard of the tragedy that happened in Walkerton. For those of you who haven't, we have included a brief history of the events that took place. 

In May, 2000, Walkerton had an outbreak causing 2300 people ill and 7 deaths, mostly children were affected. It was found that 7 wells in the city were contaminated with manure from a nearby farm.The bacteria that had caused such tragedy were E.coli 0157:H7 and Campylobacter jejuni. This incident has marked Canada's worst E. Coli contamination. Below is a video of the investigation on this outbreak:
